Reviving the lost glory for Tendereti primary school

 Family Train Their Attention and Resources Back Home As Away of Thanking Community For According Them Solid Foundation In Their Educational Sojourn.

For the last three years, Tindereti Primary School in Borabu Sub County, Nyamira County has immensely benefited from a family of former, boys and girls to improve performance.

The brothers and sisters operating under the auspices of William and Dinah Oigara Community Foundation, named after their late parents have ensured the school that was once and academic giant gets back to its years of shining in national examinations.

It was song and dance when the sponsors visited the school early this month to monitor its progress and mentor the learners.

Keeping The Oigara’s Vision Burning

The Oigara community foundation is gradually getting enthusiasm from associates attracted by fruitfullness determination of Oigara family members.

“My dad always supported girls’ education, he used alternative methods to reprimand them instead of the use of a cane” recalls Dr James Oigara, a professor in Canisious college in the United States.

He describes his late father as an ardent believer in hard work. He recalls sitting for timed tests during the weekends, which his father marked and graded. He attributes this discipline to his academic excellence.

“Hard work helped us, both my parents were teachers and very disciplined.” He fondly remembers them as very supportive parents people whose calling went beyond their duty call, “they were committed Christians who worked beyond their career” he recalls his mum

Dr. James Oigara Visit

After 9 years, since his last visit, the family awaited eagerly for the home coming of Dr James Oigara from the United States. He was expected to arrive on the 31st of May 2014, accompanied by two of his professor colleagues from Canisius University in Buffalo, USA.

On their arrival, the guests received  astounding welcome, in rural Kenyan style.   Local Kenyan and Ekegusii beats filled the reception as family and friends  danced to  Kayamba Song,”Bwabokire Obwanchani”( Let us celebrate the family love).The joyous reception of the home coming ceremony  refreshed the visitors  after a long travel of 650 kilometers (406.25 miles)from Mwanza in Tanzania, to the Nyansiongo  in Nyamira County.

Academic Award Launch

Decision by Oigara Family Members to sponsor the award informed by declining performance in national examination at their former primary school, of Tindereti DEB primary school in Nyansiongo.

Concerned by declining performance at the former primary school,  members of William and Dinah Oigara  family launched an academic award to motivate candidates perform better to access opportunities in the furthering their education.

Starting the year 2011, Standard eight candidates sitting their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education at Tindereti DEP Primary School in Borabu District, Nyamira County will benefit from the sponsorship courtesy of William and Dinah Oigara Community Foundation.

Dubbed the Tinderet Primary Annual Academic Award, the project will see pioneer beneficiaries who score 350 marks out of a possible 500 and above starting the year (2011) KCPE take home Sh5, 000 in cash prize.

OCF Launch

Williamson and Dinah Oigara Community Foundation was launched on the 24th of December 2010. The event was held at Tinderet village, in Nyamaira County. The foundation launch is a tribute to their parents.

The guest speaker, Mr Michael Bosire, an uncle to the family informed the gathering on the need to foster unity and purpose. He commended the Family in on the initiative. He stated that this institution is a vehicle to carry forwards the family vision in supporting education. He assured of his support.

Dr Joyce Oigara,  a member of the  family, reiterated efforts made by their parents to to facilitate their children, and members of the extended family receive education  a key  foundation towards personal development.
